Mayor of Brava meets with Cape Verdean candidate for Brockton city leadership
As part of his official visit to the United States of America, the Mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito, met with Moisés Rodrigues, a descendant of Cape Verde and candidate for mayor of Brockton, in the State of Massachusetts.
According to a statement released by the municipality, the meeting was marked by the sharing of experiences on local governance, reflection on the challenges faced by communities, and the analysis of opportunities that can be enhanced through greater cooperation between the island of Brava and the diaspora.
The meeting also represented a symbolic moment of strengthening ties between the island and Bravens residents around the world, a gesture that the City Council highlights as an essential part of its policy of proximity to the diaspora.
"The Brava City Council values and proudly follows the journey of its children and descendants spread throughout the world, reinforcing its commitment to keeping the connection between the island and the diaspora alive," the city council's statement emphasizes.
Amândio Brito's visit to the United States has as its main objective the strengthening of institutional and community relations with Brava and Cape Verdean emigrants, consolidating the partnership between the two sides of the Atlantic.
